[SAMPLE 17-18] Spirit Week Staff Award + VIP Vikings Feedback
Hello Everyone!
Recognition would like to obtain feedback if we should continue Spirit Week Staff Award next year. This was a newly created project with the goal of being more inclusive of staff in ASB events such as Spirit Week and boosting student participation seeing their teachers dressed up as well. An online voting student system was implemented after the first rally to make the voting process opened to students instead of just the ASB class. For the last rally, every staff face was covered to protect their privacy online and voting was only opened on the last day to make it easier for students to vote on one voting form instead of closing each voting forms every day after 9pm. (We also had more time to organize and censor the photos as well)
Here are some concerns what I had for this project-
1) Students expressed they wanted to vote, but the number of people who voted was an average of 20 or less. (Even with more promotion, only a small portion of the school is interested taking part of the voting process) Should we only allow the ASB class to vote or continue having students vote for inclusivity?
2) Participation decreased around the third rally and I've heard many staff was concerned about having their photos available online. This was implemented for the last rally as all faces were covered. However, this caused a decrease in voting. Should we show all of their faces with permission but have less staff participation due to privacy concern in the future?
3) If continued, what are some approaches to keep the project fresh and interesting for staff and students? I thought about having daily brunch parades for staff to showcase their outfits and have students vote on their phone after seeing all the outfits instead of online voting next year. We could also implement the same challenge for students or class participation (ex., 2018) that counts as points for the rally. Any other ideas?
Here is how we informed staff what to wear + participate in Spirit Week:
Here is a sample of the trophy from the Winter Rally. We decorate each trophy according to the overall theme of the rally. (For this one, it was Superheroes!)

VIP Vikings
For this rally, we didn't do poems for VIP Vikings and let Spirit did all the announcing instead while we handed out the gift bags filled with refreshment + food to the selected students and staff.
